"Oh," Said the Worm
"Oh," Said the Worm
Poem
"Oh," said the worm,
"I'm awfully tired of sitting in the trees;
I want to be a butterfly
And chase the bumblebees."
Notes
Written by Leroy F. Jackson.
The word "worm" is sometimes used loosely by kids to include caterpillars. Caterpillars and worms are completely different animals. Caterpillars are the ones that turn into butterflies or moths. It seems the author of the poem is either using the word loosely or actually means a worm that wants to become a butterfly. The illustration at the top is of a caterpillar and below is of a worm.
