This song is also sung in Puerto Rico, Mexico and Argentina…

"Madrugada" means "early morning" or "daybreak/sunrise".

Notes

There's a variation that goes like this…

Se levanta la niña a la una
Para ver la madrugada.
Se levanta la niña a la una
para ver la madrugada.
ni una, ni medio, ni cero, ni nada
qué linda es la madrugada.

English Translation:

The girl gets up at 1
to see the dawn.
The girl gets up at 1
to see the dawn.
Not one, nor a half, nor zero, nor anything
How beautiful is the early morning.

Last Verse in the Video:

Os despertáis los papás a las siete,
(Your parents wake up at seven)
Más o menos, a las siete de la madrugada,
(More or less at seven in the morning)
Y también a las seis, a las cinco
(And also at six, at five)
A las cuatro, a las tres
(At four, at three)
A las dos, a la una
(At two, at one)
A la media a la nada.
(At a half, at nothing)
¡Ya dormiréis!
(Now you'll sleep!)

(The girl gets up at one)
Porque viene la madrugada,
(Because dawn is coming)
Se levanta la niña a la una
(The girl gets up at one)
A la media, a la cuarto, a la nada,
(At a half, at a quarter, at nothing)
Ay qué linda la madrugada.
(Oh, how fine is the early morning.)

Se levanta la niña a las dos…
(The girl gets up at two…)

Very slightly different version:

Se levanta la niña a la una,
(The girl gets up at one)
A la una de la mañana*,
(At one in the morning)
Se levanta la niña a la una,
(The girl gets up at one)
A la media, a la nada,
(At a half, at nothing)
Ay qué linda la madruga.
(Ah, how fine is the early morning.)

*Literally, "mañana" is " morning" while "madrugada" is "early morning/daybreak/sunrise".
