If I Were a Little Bird
If I Were a Little Bird
Poem
Oh, if I were a little bird, happy would I be,
Perched all day on some shady tree,
A cherry for lunch and a blossom for a book,
Dinner with the honey bee, down by the brook.
I'd dance and sing all the bright summer day,
Have a grand concert without any pay,
I'd invite all the gray birds, yellow birds, and blue,
We'd have a merry time, hey, wouldn't you?"
Not a single grammar lesson, not a word to spell
Funny green schoolhouse, without any bell,
A cherry for lunch and a blossom for a book
Dinner with the honey bee, down by the brook.
