Notes

*A capon is a castrated male chicken.

Another version:

Prins Robert was een gentleman,
Een gentleman was hij.
Hij had een broekje van krenten an,
Een rokje van rijstebrij,
Zijn handen waren vogelen,
Zijn benen waren bout,
Zijn haar was lange rozijnen,
En zijn neus was stokzoethout.
Was dat niet een lekkere man?

English Translation:

Prince Robert was a gentleman,
A gentleman was he.
He had pants of currants on,
A coat of rice pudding,
His hands were birds,
His legs were bolts,
His hair was long raisins,
And his nose was a stick of licorice.
Was that not a nice man?
