Yoomo ko hi shi
"I am Awo Dede from Ghana. I love children and I always teach them folks songs I learnt when I was growing up. This is one of my favorites with an English translation from the Ga communities."
Yoomo ko hi shi
There Once Lived an Old Woman
Folk Song

(English)
Yoomo ko hi shi
Aspaatere mii eyõõ.
Eyē bii kē nabii piii
Enyēēē amē elē
Ehã amē akasa flo
Ni bodobodo bē he
Egwao amē jogbann
Ehã ãmē ya wō dioooo
There once lived an old woman
Who lives in a shoe
She has a lot of children and grandchildren
She couldn't afford to feed them
She gave them porridge
Without bread
She spanked all of them
And put them all to sleep.
