Mein Hut, der hat drei Ecken
Mein Hut, der hat drei Ecken
My Hat Has Three Corners
Action Song
Action Song
(German)
(English)
Mein Hut, der hat drei Ecken,
Drei Ecken hat mein Hut,
Und hätt er nicht drei Ecken,
So wär es nicht mein Hut.
My hat has three corners,
Three corners has my hat,
Had it not three corners,
It wouldn't be my hat.
Notes
Nathalie wrote:
I am a native English speaker, and I learned it as:
My hat it has three corners,
Three corners has my hat,
And had it not three corners,
It would not be my hat.
I think with that version the rhythm is much better, and closer to the original German.

Natalie.
Game Instructions
Do the following actions on the following words...
Mein (my) = Hand on chest
Hut (hat) = Point to your head/hat
Drei (three) = Put up 3 fingers
Ecken (corners) = Arm up, bent at the elbow, point to your elbow
Nicht (not) = Wave your pointer back and forth like you're saying no.
For a challenge, you can repeat the song with the same actions and don't say specific word. For example...
-1st time you repeat the verse don't say "Hut" (hat), just point to your head.
-2nd time you repeat the verse also don't say, "Drei" (three), just put up three fingers.
-3rd time you repeat the verse also don't say "Ecken" (corners), just point to your elbow.
-4th time you repeat the verse also don't say "Mein" (my) just put your hand on your chest.

The German Bus Song called Ein Hund kam in die Küche (A Dog Came into the Kitchen) is sung to the same tune as this song.
