Cradle Song
"Cradle Song" by Thomas Dekker was originally written as a poem around 1599. The Beatles wrote a song based on the poem called, "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight".
Cradle Song
Lullaby
Golden slumbers kiss your eyes,
Smiles awake you when you rise.
Sleep, pretty wantons, do not cry,
And I will sing a lullaby:
Rock them, rock them, lullaby.
Care is heavy, therefore sleep you,
You are care, and care must keep you;
Sleep, pretty wantons, do not cry,
And I will sing a lullaby,
Rock them, rock them, lullaby.
If you don't feel comfortable singing, you can recite a lullaby to a baby in a lilting voice, as in the recording below.
Recited by Winston Tharp.
