This song was sung by a Creek girl named Margaret in the summer of 1943. Margaret attended the Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas. The song was recorded by Willard Rhodes, Professor of music at Columbia University. He was employed by The Bureau of Indian Affairs to compile a recorded catalogue of Native American Songs.
