Game Instructions
1. The children form a circle and the one who's "Nana Caliche" stands in the middle. She's an old lady who sent her children shopping: one for a penny worth of salt, another for 2 pennies of rice, another for 4 pennies of lard, another for 5 pennies of corn, etc. The children go around while singing…
"Nana Caliche no sale de casa
Porque los pollos le comen la masa."
Nana Caliche asks:
"Where is the salt?"
The child who was sent to buy salt answers whatever comes to his/her head like:
"I threw it in the river."
2. The children resume their song:
"Nana Caliche no sale al sermón
Porque su perro se come el turrón."
Nana Caliche asks:
"Where is the rice?"
The child who was sent to buy rice answers whatever comes to his/her head like:
"I fed the turkeys with it."
3. The children resume their song:
"Nana Caliche no sale al mandado
Porque su cerdo le come el salvado."
Nana Caliche asks:
"Where is the lard?
The child who was sent to buy lard answers whatever comes to his head like:
"It melted in the sun."
4. The children resume their song:
"Nana Caliche no sale al rosario
Porque su gato se come al canario"...
…which makes Nana Caliche very angry and she chases them while they run away. Every child she catches goes to a place called the "punishment place". The last one to remain in the game wins.
