This song is based on a play on words: what you hear as "ris cane" can be understood as "ris cane" = laugh, (female) duck but also as "ricane" (snigger or giggle). "la cane a ri" can also be understood as "la cane a ri" (the duck laughed) but also as la canari (the canary) – the word is normally masculine, it shouldn't be "la" but "le" canari.
