El puente está quebrado
Liliana sent this song with the note: "A children's game song that I sang as a child in Colombia. It's called 'El puente está quebrado'"…
El puente está quebrado
The Bridge is Broken
Juego cantado
Singing Game
(Spanish)
(English)
El puente está quebrado,
¿con qué lo curaremos?
con cáscaras de huevo
burritos al potrero.
Que pase el rey
que ha de pasar
con todos sus hijitos
menos el de atrás!
The bridge is broken,
With what will we mend it?
With eggs shells,
Little donkeys in the pasture.
Let the king pass,
For he must pass
With all his little children
Except the one at the back!
Game Instructions
"We would make a round and two children would hold hands to form a bridge. The round would pass under the bridge and whoever passed when the song ended was caught and had to choose which side of the bridge she wanted to join. Then she would go behind the child she had chosen and the game went on until all the children had chosen a side. At the end, there were two rows facing each other and the kid "bridge" would have a tug of war, the row that remained standing would win… very funny!!!" -Liliana
Comments
This is played the same way as Oranges and Lemons.
El puente está quebrado.
¿Con qué lo componemos?
Con cáscaras de huevo.
Que pase el rey que ha de pasar,
que el hijo del conde se ha de quedar.
English Translation:
The bridge is broken,
With what will we mend it?
With eggs shells.
Let the king pass for he must past,
The earl's son must stay.
Thanks!
English Translation:
The bridge is broken,
With what will we mend it?
With eggs shells,
Small lemon leaves.
Let the king pass, he's waiting to pass,
The earl's son stays behind.
I have a little doll dressed in blue,
And I put her in the cradle and I give her cream.
Thanks!
Thanks!
