Mrs. O'Leary's Cow
"Old Mother Leary" (La –vieille- mère Leary) s'appelle aussi "Mrs. O'Leary's Cow" (La vache de Mme O'Leary). Cette chanson est une parodie de la vieille chanson de minstrels (Blancs déguisés en Noirs) "There'll Be a Hot Time in the Old Town Tonight" ("Ça va chauffer dans la –bonne- vieille ville ce soir")
L'histoire derrière la chanson : Mme Catherine O'Leary vivait à Chicago dans l'Illinois au moment du Grand Incendie de Chicago de 1871. On a dit que le feu était parti de sa grange le soir du 8 octobre 1871 et qu'il s'était étendu à toute la ville. Il s'est avéré que Michael Ahern, un reporter au Chicago Daily Tribune a inventé l'histoire pour vendre des journaux.
En 1997, le Conseil Municipal de Chicago a adopté une résolution disculpant Mme O'Leary et sa vache !
