A Giant Fishing…

His Angle Rod Made of a Sturdy Oak - English Children's Songs - England - Mama Lisa's World: Children's Songs and Rhymes from Around the World - Intro Image

Notes

This rhyme is originally by Sir William Davenant (1605–1668) from "Britannia Triumphans" (1637). Here's the original version:

For angling-rod he took a sturdy oak;
For line, a cable that in storm ne'er broke;
His hook was such as heads the end of pole
To pluck down house ere fire consumes it whole;
The hook was baited with a dragon's tale,--
And then on rock he stood to bob for whale.
