Handy Spandy Jack-a-Dandy
Nursery Rhyme
Handy Spandy Jack-a-Dandy
Loved plumcake and sugar candy;
He bought some at a grocer's shop,
And out he came, hop, hop, hop.
Notes
In some versions he's called "Handy Pandy, Jack-a-dandy".

Here's a slightly different version of this rhyme from Harry's Ladder to Learning (1850):
Handy-spandy, Jack-a-Dandy
Loves plum-cake and sugar-candy.
He bought some at a grocer's shop,
And pleased, away went, hop, hop, hop.
The Real Mother Goose (1916) has this rhyme as:
Handy Pandy, Jack-a-dandy,
Loves plum cake and sugar candy.
He bought some at a grocer's shop,
And out he came, hop, hop, hop!
Below is a version that goes back to 1726. I found it in A Learned Dissertation on Dumpling:
Nauty Pauty Jack-a-Dandy
Stole a Piece of Sugar-Candy
From the Grocer's Shoppy-shop,
And away did Hoppy-hop.
Jacky Dandy's Delight by Jack Dandy (1799) has the following version:
This is little Jacky Dandy
He loves cake and sugar-candy,
He bought some at the grocer's shop,
And pleased away went hop, hop, hop.
