There are many alternate verses. Here are some that can be found:

La virgen está tendiendo entre tomillo y jara
los pajaritos cantando le alegran la mañana
(The Virgin is hanging [her laundry] between thyme and rockrose,
The birdies with their singing cheer up her morning.)

Un pastor comiendo sopas en el aire divisó,
un ángel que le decía ha nacido el Redentor.
(A shepherd, eating soup, saw in the air
An angel who was telling him, "The Redeemer was born.")

Cargadito de regalos ¿dónde vas tu pastorcillo?
Voy al portal de Belén que esta noche nace el Niño
(Loaded with gifts, where are you going young shepherd?
I'm going to Bethlehem since tonight the Child will be born.)

Todos le llevan al Niño yo no tengo que llevarle,
Le llevo mi corazón que en el mundo es lo que vale.
(Everyone brings [things] to the Child, I don't have anything to bring,
I bring him my heart since in the world, it's what is worthy.)

Los pastores que supieron que el Niño quería fiesta,
hubo un pastor que rompió tres pares de castañuelas.
(The shepherds who knew that the Child wanted a party
There was a shepherd who broke three pairs of castanets.)

De Oriente salen tres Reyes para adorar al Dios Niño
una estrella les guiaba para seguir el camino.
(From the East three Kings leave to worship the Child God,
A star was guiding them to follow the way.)

A esta puerta hemos llegado cuatrocientos en cuadrilla
si quieres que nos sentemos saca cuatrocientas sillas.
(At this door, four hundred of us have arrived in groups,
If you want us to sit down, get out four hundred chairs.)

Saca una para mí y otra "pa" mi compañero
y los que vengan detrás que se sienten en el suelo
(Get one out for me and another for my friend,
And whoever comes behind, let them sit on the ground.)

Y si quieres comprar pan más blanco que la azucena
en el portal de Belén la Virgen es panadera.
(If you want to buy bread whiter than a lily,
In the manger in Bethlehem, the Virgin is a baker.)

San José se ha tomado celos del preñado de María
y cuando nació el lucero la baba se le caía.
(Saint Joseph became jealous over Mary's pregnancy
And when the bright star was born, he drooled over the baby.)

En el portal de Belén han entrado los ratones
y al bueno de San José le han roído los calzones.
(In the manger in Bethlehem, the rats came in
And gnawed good St. Joseph's underpants.)

En el portal de Belén gitanillos han entrado.
Y al Niño que está en la cuna, los pañales le han robado.
(In the manger in Bethlehem, young gypsies have come in
And have stolen the diapers from the Child who's in the cradle.)

En la puerta de mi casa voy a poner un petardo
para reírme del que venga a pedir el aguinaldo
On my doorstep, I'm going to put a firecracker
To make fun of whoever comes to ask for a tip.)

Pues si voy a dar a todo el que pide en Nochebuena
yo sí que voy a tener que pedir de puerta en puerta.
(Because if I'm to give to everyone begging on Christmas Eve,
I'm the one who'll have to beg from door to door.)

Esta noche es Nochebuena y mañana Navidad
