Ro, ro, ro din båt
This is the Norwegian version of the English song "Row, Row, Row, Your Boat"...
Ro, ro, ro din båt
Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Children's Song
Children's Song
(Norwegian)
(English)
Ro, ro, ro din båt.
Ta din åre fatt.
Vuggende, vuggende, vuggende, vuggende
over Kattegatt*.
Row, row, row your boat
Start rowing
Rocking, rocking, rocking, rocking
Over Kattegat*.
Notes
*Kattegat is a bay of the North Sea. The word Kattegatt comes from Dutch and Low German and means "cat hole" as in the narrow round hole doors used to have at the bottom to let the cat in and out, because this bay was very narrow and difficult to sail through.
Comments
The lyrics to this song in English are normally:
Row, row, row, your boat,
Gently down the stream,
Merrily, merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.
