Dizia o galo para a galinha:
- Vamos casar a nossa filhinha.
-A nossa filhinha casada será,
e agora o noivo donde virá?
Dizia o galo que estava a cantar,
que estava pronto com ela a casar.
-O noivo já nós temos, já,
agora o padrinho de onde virá?
Dizia o rato, lá do buraquinho,
que estava pronto para ser o padrinho.
-O padrinho já nós temos, já,
agora a madrinha, donde virá?
Dizia a cabra, lá do meio da vinha,
que estava pronta para ser a madrinha.
-A madrinha já nós temos, já,
agora o enxoval donde virá?
Dizia a aranha, lá do aranhal,
que estava pronta para dar o enxoval.
-Enxoval já nós temos, já,
agora a cozinheira, donde virá?
Dizia a rola, que andava a rolar,
que estava pronta para cozinhar.
-Cozinheira já nós temos, já,
servir á mesa donde virá?
Dizia a andorinha, com a sua ligeireza,
que estava pronta para servir á mesa.
-Servir á mesa já nós temos, já,
mas o bailarico, donde virá?
Diziam os mosquitos, que andavam no ar,
que estavam prontos para irem bailar.
-Bailarico já nós temos,já,
mas o gaiteiro, donde virá?
Dizia o burro, lá do seu palheiro,
que estava pronto para ser o gaiteiro.
-O gaiteiro já nós temos, já,
ao casamento nada faltará.
The rooster was telling the hen,
"Let's marry our dear little daughter off.
Our dear little daughter will be married,
And now, where will the groom come from?"
The rooster who was singing said
That he was ready to marry her.
"We already have the groom,
Now where will the best man come from?"
The mouse said, over there from his little hole,
That he was ready to be the best man.
"We already have the best man,
Now, where will the maid of honor come from?"
The nanny-goat said, from the middle of the vineyard
That she was ready to be the maid of honor.
"We already have the maid of honor,
Now, where will the trousseau come from?"
The spider said, over there from its web
That she was ready to give the trousseau.
"We already have the trousseau,
Now, where will the cook come from?"
The turtle dove who was cooing said
That she was ready to be the cook.
"We already have a cook,
Where will the server come from?"
The swallow with her nimbleness said
That she was ready to be a server.
"We already have a server,
But where will the dancers come from?"
The mosquitoes flying in the air said
That they were ready to dance.
"We already have the dancers,
But where will the piper come from?"
The donkey said, over there by his haystack,
That he was ready to be the piper.
"We already have the piper,
The wedding will lack nothing."
