There Was a Little Mouse

There was a little Mouse that lived in a mill
Ring dum body mo ki mo
And when you'd sick* him he'd be still
Ring dum body mo ki mo
Ki ma nero, ki ma nero, ki ma nero ki mo

Nancy W. Parrott had this to say about the song, "This was a song from the old low country of South Carolina of 100 years ago. The strange words in it probably had African roots as the slaves sang it to the children of the Southern Plantations. My husband's Grandmother learned it somewhere and sang it to him as a very young child. We are a little unsure of the exact words but feel that we almost have them."
