Notes
There's a version with one more verse that goes
"Et la grue a voulu manger cru…" (And the crane wanted to eat raw…).
The most common version goes "dans la rue" ("in the street") instead of "dans les nues" ("in the clouds"). "Les nues" is an archaic and poetic way to say "les nuages" (the clouds).
