همٹي ڈمٹي
"This was taught to my father aged 6 in 1913 by his ayah (Indian nursemaid ) and he taught it to me by ear so I only know it phonetically! What is quite interesting to me is that it must be fairly authentic because I recited it to an Indian security officer in Singapore in 1969 when I was in the merchant navy and he said I had a very heavy Bengali accent!" -Jon

All the King's horses and all the King's men
Couldn't put Humpty Dumpty together again.

Comments
"I'm from England but this tale came from my grandfather who was chief of police in part of India for many years. My father and all his siblings were born there and returned to England later. And coincidentally 1880's would also have been my grandfathers era." -Jon
