En un convento, borombombón,
de San Francisco, borombombón,
había una negra, borombombón,
con tres negritos, borombombón.
Mientras la negra, borombombón,
tomaba mate, borombombón,
los tres negritos, borombombón,
hacían bollitos, borombombóm,
de chocolate, borombombóm.
Y aquí termina, borombombóm,
este cuentito, borombombóm,
de una negra, borombombóm,
y tres negritos, borombombóm.
In a convent, borom-bom-bon,
Of San Francisco, borom-bom-bon,
There was a black lady, borom-bom-bon,
And three black children, borom-bom-bon.
While the black lady, borom-bom-bon,
Was drinking mate*, borom-bom-bon,
The three black children, borom-bom-bon,
Made scones, borom-bom-bon,
Of chocolate, borom-bom-bon.
And here ends, borom-bom-bon,
This little story, borom-bom-bon,
Of a black lady, borom-bom-bon,
And three black children, borom-bom-bon.
Notes
*Mate is a drink from South America that's made by steeping yerba mate leaves in hot water. It's traditionally drunk with a straw out of a gourd (mate). Family and friends traditionally drink mate in a social setting with each other. It's the national drink of Uruguay. Learn all about Mate on Mama Lisa's World Blog!
