Nina nani ni ga doma
Nina nani ni ga doma
Lullaby, He's Not Home
Lullaby
Lullaby
(Chakavian Dialect)
(English)
Nina nani ni ga doma
U poju je bere ruoze
Bere ruoze i viole.
Nabro ih je konistricu
I od druge polovicu
Pa ih nois prid krajicu.
Krajica se dorom brine
Ča će molem darovati.
Daruje mu konja vrona
I na konju divojčicu
Kano zlotnu jabučicu.
Lullaby, he's not home,
He is in the field, picking roses,
Picking roses and pansies.
He picked a basket
And half of another one,
And he brings it to the queen.
The queen worries about the gift
She will give to the boy.
She gives him a black horse,
And a girl on the horse
Like a little golden apple.
Notes

Sanda wrote: "On the Island of Hvar there are a lot of traditional lullabies, I'm giving you one of them that I sing to my children, and that I learned from my mother-in-law. It is written in the dialect from Stari Grad, Island of Hvar."
