Round and Round the Village
Round and Round the Village
Children's Song
Round and round the village,
Round and round the village,
Round and round the village,
As we have done before.
Go in and out the window,
Go in and out the window,
Go in and out the window,
As we have done before.
Stand and face your partner,
Stand and face your partner,
Stand and face your partner,
As we have done before.
Now follow me to London,
Now follow me to London,
Now follow me to London,
As we have done before.
Notes
There are many variations of this song. Here are some alternate verses:
Go up and down the staircase,
Go up and down the staircase,
Go up and down the staircase,
As we have done before.
Now shake hands with your partner,
Now shake hands with your partner,
Now shake hands with your partner,
As we have done before.
Now take him off to London,
Now take him off to London,
Now take him off to London,
As we have done before.
Now shake her hand and leave her,
Now shake her hand and leave her,
Now shake her hand and leave her,
As we have done before
Game Instructions
All the children hold hands and form a circle. Then they sing the 1st verse while going around in a circle. One child goes inside the circle and walks around the ring.
On the verse "go in and out the window", the children in the ring stop and lift their arms while still holding hands. The kid inside the circle goes under the arms of the kids weaving in and out of all the upheld arms.
On the 3rd verse that child picks a partner and they face each other in the center of the circle.
On the 4th verse "Now take him off to London" both kids go around the inside of the circle while the kids in the circle go around in a circle in the opposite direction.
