Nila, Nila, Odi Vaa
Nillaamal Odi Vaa
Malai Mela Eri Vaa
Malligai Poo Kondu Vaa.
Moon, Moon, come running to me.
Don't stop while you run.
Climb over the mountain and,
Bring a Jasmine Flower when you come to me.
The woman who sent me this song, wrote, "Here's a song from South India in Tamil. This is a classic song that every Tamilan child would have listened to, growing up. This song is usually sung by the Mom or the grandmother. While feeding the child dinner, the mother would point to the moon. The moon's beauty would distract the child, and she would open her mouth wide while the mom would elegantly feed the child creamy home-made yogurt/curd mixed with rice."
